Moving the celebration of Bonifacio Day caused an uproar within the nation as the public questions if it was really necessary to carry out such efforts. Bonifacio Day, normally honored on the 30th of November, was celebrated on November 27 as to give a longer weekend for the nation. This however, completely disregards the original date and comes off as disrespectful to the Father of the Philippine Revolution.

The change was made in accordance of Proclamation 90 (amending Proclamation 42), that follows Republic Act. No. 9492 which states that, regular holidays and nationwide special days shall be moved to the nearest Monday unless otherwise modified by law or proclamation. It sounds reasonable, until realising what these dates mean in the first place.

Holidays are not merely dates on a calendar; they are gifted pauses in the constant cycle of life. These moments represent a time for both relaxation and spiritual reflection, that gives an intense connection with the values that bind us together. More than just commemorating moments or worshipping esteemed figures, holidays immerse ourselves in the joyful balance of laughter and relief. We shall cherish these moments for what they are, a celebration.
